Our Approach

What to expect when you work with Rocky Mountain Elder Law

At Rocky Mountain Elder Law, we understand the complexities of elder law and estate planning and are committed to guiding you every step of the way. Whether you’re planning for the future, navigating probate, or dealing with guardianship or conservatorship matters, here’s what you can expect when working with us.

Productive Consultations

The first step to working with us is to have a consultation. Our consultations are thorough and designed to provide you with actionable legal advice from the very beginning. We charge a fee for most consultations which ensures you leave with clear, grounded guidance tailored to your situation. Whether or not you choose to retain us for additional services, you’ll walk away with advice you can rely on.

Transparent Billing Practices

We believe in clear and upfront communication about costs. Depending on the service you need, our billing structure is tailored for fairness and flexibility:

  • • Estate planning: Billed on a flat-fee basis, our estate plans cover nine comprehensive documents that address much more than just wills and trusts. If complex trust work is required, it may be billed separately, either on an hourly or flat-fee basis.
  •
  • • Guardianships, conservatorships, estate administration and probate litigation: These matters require a retainer and are billed hourly due to their complexity, particularly when litigation or court proceedings are involved.
  •
  • • Statements and retainer management: We bill in increments of one-sixth of an hour (e.g., 0.2 or 0.3 hours) and provide detailed statements twice per month. These statements show exactly how your retainer is being used, and when it falls below a set threshold, we will ask you to replenish it.

We are committed to accountability and trust. Your funds are held in a trust account and managed with the utmost integrity.
